On August 25th and 26th, 2009 the Vision 2020 task force met to draft OLA's vision statement for 2020. Our process was collaborative and energetic, with a vigorous exchange of ideas. The draft statement that came out of this meeting captures themes and ideas we believe are crucial for Oregon Libraries over the next 10 years.

But we're not done! And we need your help. Over the next few months we hope to gather feedback and ideas from around the state of Oregon. Use this space to share your ideas. Here are some questions to get you started

  1. Are the assumptions being made valid? Do they resonate with you?
  2. Do the four broad themes resonate with you? Would you add or change anything?
  3. Are there examples that seem particularly important? Or examples that do not resonate at all? Is there wording that is confusing or unclear?
  4. Are there important concepts connected to the themes that are not described with examples?
  5. What role should OLA play in bringing this vision about?
  6. Do you see yourself, or your library in this vision?
  • What are some things you could do, or your library could do, to participate in this vision?
  • What resources would you need, or would your library need, to participate in this vision.
